Did you pass Go and collect £200?

If you needed reminding that last Saturday was Valentine’s Day, you’re probably already toast.

Banished to the outer darkness of the solar system for forgetting the one day you should have made a special effort to treat someone special in your life.

Many up and down the land will have treated their loved ones to an attractive card.

Probably purchased some beautiful flowers even whilst cursing the blatant Valentine week profiteering as they parted with their hard-earned cash.

Maybe even treated them to a no-expense-spared meal down at the Dog & Duck.

For its part, Google would have us believe that some 25 million cards were sent or exchanged last week which surely must have come straight from the department of guesswork.

Right or wrong, there’s no doubt that it’s a popular day.

Get it wrong, and you’ll probably feel an icy Siberian blast blowing through your life.

Get it right, and you can bask in that glorious holier-than-thou satisfaction only the insufferably smug can get away with.

Unlike this hapless soul who got it so badly wrong.
