The Real Reason Deadlines Matter …
Being smug isn’t an attractive trait.
And being insufferably smug is particularly unpleasant.
Unfortunately, I was in danger of crashing into the latter with a terrible splat.
The cause?
My overconfident promise to build a winter shelter for Mrs S’ two ancient pet sheep.
Way back in the Spring, there was plenty of time to get the job done and make good on my cast-iron promise to finish before summer was out.
But isn’t it always the way – when the deadline is so far away it’s meaningless, and time is plentiful, there always seem to me more pressing jobs to deal with.
However, once we’d passed the equinox and with winter storms on the horizon, things became more pressing.
It was time for a sense of urgency, or my cast-iron promise was surely going to be broken.
Luckily, the shelter, built from old pallets and other sundries lying around in my workshop, is almost complete with just the roof to go on.
That’s another story in itself, which I’ll share with you next week.
But the big lesson with this little project was the importance of deadlines.
No matter whether the task is large or small.
Without them, so very little gets done.
On that note …
If you’ve got a print deadline approaching at warp speed two, we’re always here to help.
Until next week.
