Waiting for Godot …

A wet shave is undoubtedly one of life’s great luxuries.

And whilst we wouldn’t like to admit it, sourcing the right product is something which should never be rushed.

Great time and attention are given over to this daily ritual without which we simply can’t face the day’s many trials and tribulations.

After all, can you imagine Colin Firth’s character in Kingsman stepping out into the day without the perfect shave?

It’s unthinkable.

This is why, with stocks running low, I wanted to top up my shaving arsenal in plenty of time …

But I was horror-struck to find the item in question was out of stock.

This was NOT a good start to the day.

No problem, I’ll fire off a quick email to customer services and this’ll be sorted in a jiffy.

The usual autoresponder holding message came back reassuringly quickly with the usual platitudes about how important my enquiry was, etc., etc.

So important, in fact, that they promised that they’d get back to me in three days.

3 WHOLE DAYS

Astronauts can get back from the moon quicker than that!

Today is day 4 and I’m still awaiting a reply and feel rather like the characters in Samuel Beckett’s great play Waiting for Godot.

Who, of course, never arrives.

In today’s fast-moving world, three days is an epoch away. Three hours is a mind-numbing eternity and three minutes would be considered sloth-like indifference.

A lesson to us all how important it is to be attentive before our customers click “next” and move on to someone else.

And on that note, if you want a sounding board or just want to bend my ear, I’m on hand for a chat about anything to do with Print or Web Design.

Stay safe.
